Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atlanta GA

IMG_1892I want to give an Honor to God who is ahead of my life and God bless everyone in their respective places. I am so excited to have visited Ebenezer Baptist Church the very exact church Dr. Martin Luther King Jr preached at under the leadership of the Williams and King families. The focus of their church was food, shelter, and health needs. During the civil rights movement in the 50’s and 60’s Ebenezer gained global exposure for education, voter registration, and other civic reforms.

Rev. King Sr. father of Dr. King Jr. loved his family and his church home the same love he gave his children he gave his membership.

This church has significant value and this is where King’s grandfather and father have served as pastors during the 1960’s, Dr. King severed as co-pastor, and after his assassination, King’s brother took over as co-pastor. Just like any other church that has activities, bible studies, meetings and more were led by King’s grandmother and mother. I can imagine what it is today only if the legacy is still being celebrated. The women of impact and influence that should come through and pay their respects. I mean I would invest and fly out to celebrate.

Annual Women’s Day hosted by Coretta Scott King will be celebrating its 55th year October 2017

I can’t believe I was standing in the church where Mama King was fatally shot in 1974 along with Deacon Edward Boykin and 3 others were wounded. My God, I pray for their families and loved ones. We have to pray for our churches and keep them covered.

The Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall has the exact same appearance it did in the 1960’s when you walk in the church there is audio of Dr. King speeches and sermons. I believe if you went there early enough you can pray over your seat and set back to listen to the exact words Dr. King has preached. I’m not sure if there’s a time limit to your visit but it closes at 5pm.

Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve… You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve… You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant. Martin Luther King Jr. “The Drum Major Instinct” sermon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, February 4, 1968

The biographical exhibits are breath-taking at the King Center this is the place I cried right before going into the Rosa Parks room. The King Center is where both the tombs of Dr. King and wife Mrs. Coretta Scott King are Reflecting.

There are people in Atlanta who lived here for years and haven’t taken the time out. Let the Holy Spirit move you. All pictures are mine.

Birth home of Martin Luther King Jr, Atlanta GA

The home that Martin Luther King was born in. King was born in an upstairs bedroom right here in this house January 15, 1929, he then lived here for 12 years of his childhood in the 1930s-40s before it became a rental property.

This house was purchased by King’s maternal grandfather Dr. A. D. Williams. I wonder how much he’s purchased this house for? Around that time the minimum wage was .22 cents an hour and the average worker made $200-$400 a year. I can only imagine.

This area is still an active community today and private residence. To keep this area protected the house on each side have been restored and are part of the historic site.

There are certain times you’re allowed to go in for an inside tour for a fee and no cameras are allowed in the real home (I heard) I didn’t go inside for a tour.

What do you need to get your stay started right? A peace of mind, being able to hear your own thoughts and not being bound to those you can’t break free from. Deuces I’m out.

When I plan and do things I try to make it kid-friendly so if I don’t have no adult company or anyone to hang out with it benefits a child at the same time. Family 1st I have a niece and a nephew. The girl you see is not my niece but she likes to come with me because it’s fun.

When I come here for a day pass I don’t always do what I intend to do because I either lack motivation or I have the wrong company. Ughh.. I just want to workout.

Here is my favorite thing to do when I come here. Wash clothes the washers & dryers are complimentary that means it’s free and it’s a 24 hour “Laundromat”

I barely used the back porch I got a smoking room upon availability. When I walked into the room it smelled like cigarettes and I don’t smoke at all I thought I smelled like cigarettes just by being in a smoking room.

If we don’t feel like leaving the property there’s a Subway and Pizzeria on sight.

Say you don’t want to eat out the whole time you are here the grocery store is about 5 mins up the street. This room has a kitchenette and the pots and pans are provided down to the silverware it’s a one-bedroom more of a studio style.

This room is always so comfortable I slept with all 5 pillows and that makes it that more relaxing. Sometimes it feels like you are sleeping on clouds especially if you know how to getaway from the noise and not be available to every call. The sofas also pull out beds.

I wanted to get some work done right from the bed, man it felt so good to lay in bed with the laptop on my knee comfortable on top of 5 pillows I’m thinking wow is this what working from home feel life? sign me up I want to work from home. When I’m home my laptop is either on a stand or I’m at the table I don’t have the luxury of laying in bed on my laptop.

Western Massachusetts is a different experience people come to this resort from all over the states it’s a timeshare resort soon it’ll be open to the public and I’ll close out my account and become regular like everyone else. I’m lucky to drive only a half an hour away and there’s a premium outlet shopping plaza 7 mins away from the resort. Everything is convenient and 2 steps away if I could live here trust me I would. Maybe in a Presidental Suite, not this particular unit. I swear if I became homeless I would just need a place to sleep.
