Ranisha: What makes you more valuable than the other artists in your same market? Do you feel like you have competition? Why or why not.
Young D: I think what makes me more valuable is that I’m unique. I’m coming with my sound and delivery and I’m building my brand and buzz all alone, as far as competition I’ll always say I’m my only competition but I know Rap is a competitive sport so you have to stay on your toes, because you never know what someone is bringing to the table.

Ranisha: Who is your audience & target?
Young D: My audience and target are pre-adults and up age 19- and up because I get a lot of love from that age group. I feel that my music can touch all ages anytime the elders in my family and kids under 9 can recite a song I know I’ve created something good.

Ranisha: How do you like to reach ppl when making a connection? Is it through social media or do you rather pull up on them?

Young D: Social media is definitely the wave now, but I rather pull up and connect with the people. You know meeting a person online is one thing but actually getting to know you in person is another. You never know the impact you’ll have on a person unless you make the connection.


Ranisha: What is your lifestyle like?

Young D: My lifestyle is very laid back, I’m humble but a hungry individual, a person that lives by morals and principles, and I’m a guy that grinds 24/7. On the other hand, I definitely like to indulge in a little turn up here and there ….. lol


Ranisha: When it comes to the music what kind of skills do you bring to the table? What is your expertise?

Young D: I feel as tho I bring something to the table that a lot of artists can’t bring, you know I’ve been studying the game for a while and I’ve picked up different tactics to perfect my craft that a lot of artist lack. As far as the music goes I can say I definitely can create any genre of music, even though my style is more soulful,  but when I’m in that studio cooking you never know what comes out of the pot.


Ranisha: Who do you trust with your legacy and what do you want to be known for?

Young D: At this day an age I trust my mom with my legacy. I mean who would be more trustworthy other than the woman who birthed you. She knows about me more than I do lol …. but when it’s all said and done though I’ll leave everything to my beautiful baby girl Lyric. Lyric will own it all. I want to be known for being an individual that started from the bottom and climb the stairs while others took the elevator. Showing the world that anything is possible as long as you stay committed.


Ranisha: What can you see yourself doing for your community in the near future? What will that take? Is that something you always wanted to see done as a kid?

Young D: In the near future I can see myself opening centers for the youth, parks, recreational centers, giving back to schools, holding concerts and donating the money where it’s needed in my hometown. I feel as though some of the higher-ups here lack that sort of thing. It only happens when a big situation has occurred and then everyone is a hero. When in reality a hero should have his cape on 24/7.


Ranisha: Tell us about your up and coming EP you are working on and your earlier project? What should we expect from this project in the works?

Young D: I’m currently working on my new Ep Titled “To Whom It May Concern”. On this project, I’m basically going for the throne lol. I’m creating songs that when you play them through your stereo or whatever you’ll say this kid is undeniable. That’s the impact I wanna leave on my listeners every time. If you heard my last project “So Much More” you’ll know what to expect.


Ranisha: What do you want to say to those who look up to you as a word of encouragement to keep going and not give up?

Young D: I want to tell anybody who looks up to me, Thank You, that’s first and foremost but I also want to tell them that if you have a dream or goal you’re trying to reach you don’t stop until you get it. Anything is possible. A wise man once told me that, “the day you decide to quit could be the day you receive your big break” so you have to stay consistent and keep working.


Ranisha: When collaborating with other people what is it you look for in a person? Do you want a different style from yours? What has to be different?

Young D: When collaborating with an artist I love when an artist brings a different style to the table, it makes the song more organic and unique. I just want the artist to be as hungry as I am while we’re working. If we’re both working at the same level, it’s no way we shouldn’t create an extremely dope project.

4. Don’t Overthink – Who am I telling? I wish I knew how to turn off sometimes and relax my brain. Retreat for a better purpose.

5. Apps – Oh you just got the Nike app for discounts you don’t actually use it for workouts I completely understand. Utilize these apps if you want to go far or be more serious than others. Invest in a virtual trainer for accountability. Face your struggles they are real.

6. Health Check-Ups – You’re in good health and your doctor don’t see anything wrong with you, but nobody knows your body better than you. Be concerned.

7. What’s in your Fridge? I have absolutely nothing in my fridge or freezer. My excuse is because I live alone and I don’t have any major responsibilities or a husband to make lunch for. Ok, honestly I buy everything that makes me feel bloated and I don’t want to see it in the cabinets. I am in the process of training my mind and body to stop eating junk. I know the fries are tempting.
